Facing the world of the unseen

Between the realm of life and death

I try to fight, I'm loosing breath

I shield my eyes of light of day

Yet its dark, the world is grey

I'm all alone, who to blame?

Because m not here, I'm not the same

I am the ruler of all nightmares

Franny ann sleeps through her alarm and ignores calls from work feeling dull from life. Skipping work entirely and eating a carrot she surfs the web when an ad pops up looking for product testers. signing up, she's sent details on location. The head scientist explains she will test out this vacuum. She was asked to pretend that the vacuum was alive.  When questioned on her progress with the appliance she reports that it was clumsy the first day however it seemed to improve rather quickly. “The vacuum seemed to do a better job when I was in a good mood,” she reported “and to slack off and hide if I was angry but I don’t understand why. Scientist explains vacuum runs on someone else's consciousness they were unhappy and found no fulfillment in life. Eventually the individual's mind may shut down when it's lost all will to continue or perhaps when they lose all memory of their own existence. Until then it lives a simple life. Ann asks if the scientist can trick the mind into thinking it’s living a different experience but he gave no solid answer. Ann goes home without the vacuum, questioning her experience sitting down at the computer when her phone suddenly rings. The scientist asks how she would like to receive her payment when a crow pecks at the window pain. An idea began to explode in her mind and without thinking further she said. “I Want to be a pair of beautiful shoes” and that is exactly what happened

The Eternal Outcast

These are the words that have burdened me throughout my life. Their insurmountable weight forever entrenched in my conscious. Being denied since childhood that human warmth for which we all long for. Always the odd one out, always the last one chosen, the one no one wanted to play with. Reminded that a favor was given under the pretense of compassion. Indeed, children can be so mean spirited. And not unlike my childhood my adolescence was greeted with open arms by discontent. Never got the girl, always made fun of, shunned from the group like a waste of space. As I grew older my state of abandonment remained the same. They say that adulthood is synonymous with tolerance and acceptance but in the end society held me in the same level of contempt. Adults are more adept at concealing their resentment but you eventually learn to see through their smiles. Moss Green

Moss green fence slats lay decaying in the backyard, half dried from recent rain. The squirrels rustle across dead leaves, fleeing barking dogs and near-silent cats prowling for a quick meal. Pollen saturates the air; mushrooms grow in the shade of fallen branches as the fuzz of lichen creeps over a trunk felled in favor of a wooden fence.

if i could invent words

i would like to create a word for what one feels when they realize: if we were birds, the only cage we would be in are the ones we create ourselves. how many times have our wings been clipped by our own hands alone. christ, i'm sorry. dear past self: i apologize for trying to define you; for definition is the metaphorical cage to change. the only limit the sky has is how far we can see.

they say crows never forget and i am terrified this is true. see, the other week, i hit a crow with my car & they saw. they saw, and if they remember, then they know, and if they know, they will come. here is the thing: i am terrified they can see me & i am terrified they can not. my thoughts lately are a spiral, a maze, with an entrance but no exit. i am lost. i am lost, and they know. last week, i saw a cat, eating a crow, and in my mind, i am the cat, i am the crow, i am the car that hit the crow, i am my thoughts lost in my maze, and what if they see me.
